Sheriff’s deputies searching for assault suspect

The Times-Tribune

CORBIN — Times-Tribune Staff Report

Laurel County Sheriff’s deputies seek the assistance of the public in identifying and locating a man suspected of assaulting a woman in the road Monday.

Sheriff John Root said Deputy James Sizemore continues his investigation, which began on Feltner Steer Road off of Twin Branch Road east of London.

“Apparently an unknown male subject in a pickup truck was observed parked behind a woman’s mother’s residence,” Root explained.

The vehicle fled the scene when it was noticed, the sheriff added.

The unidentified woman tried to follow the truck to get the license plate to help deputies — however, the vehicle came to an abrupt stop in the road, Root said.

The woman was forced to stop behind the truck, and the suspect driver exited the vehicle and confronted her, according to police reports.

The suspect then assaulted her before fleeing the area.

Root explained she was able to get pictures with a cell phone camera — she took shots of the pickup truck as well as the suspect.

The pickup is described as an older-model black Chevrolet pickup with a Kentucky coal license plate on it. It has a blue stripe on its rear tail gate.

The white suspect was wearing a ball cap, and had a large watch on his left wrist.

Root asks that anyone with information contact the Laurel County Sheriff’s Office at 606-864-6600, or 606-878-7000.
