A shoplifter sought by the Laurel County Sheriff’s Department was arrested Wednesday after multiple tips and information came in via Facebook and phone calls, according to Sheriff John Root.
Deputy Larry Parrott, along with Senior Sgt. Greg Poynter and Deputy Robbie Grimes, arrested Cynthia V. Mullins, 45, of London, after learning her whereabouts via numerous tips and information garnered from the sheriff’s Facebook page, phone calls, personal contacts and attention drawn by the media.
Mullins was being sought regarding a “gang” that was shoplifting large quantities of diapers, baby formula, and other items from area Dollar General stores and Walmart stores in Laurel County. Her vehicle was reported to be a maroon Mercury Mountaineer.
Mullins was arrested around 1 p.m. and was charged on two felony warrants for theft by unlawful taking. She was jailed in the Laurel County Correctional Center.
Root said he would like to thank everyone who assisted in locating Mullins and that it was another example of Laurel County citizens and the Laurel County Sheriff’s Office working together.
