Drivers sent to hospital following Corbin crash

CORBIN — By Jeff Noble / Staff Writer

A two-car collision just after noon Monday at the intersection of the Cumberland Gap Parkway (U.S. 25E) and Master Street in Corbin sent the drivers of the two cars to the hospital with back and neck injuries.

Corbin Police said the crash happened at 12:08 p.m. They report a late-model black Lincoln driven by Becky Lynn Madon, 41, of Barbourville, was on U.S. 25E headed towards Barbourville.

At the same time, a late-model white Lincoln driven by Brittany Deaton, 33, of Corbin, was on Master Street crossing U.S. 25E, headed to Kmart.

There were no passengers in either vehicle.

According to police, Madon said the light was yellow when she was going through the intersection, while Deaton and two witnesses behind her in another vehicle said Deaton had the green light.

Police said the impact was a T-bone crash, with Deaton’s Lincoln hitting the back right quarter panel of Madon’s Lincoln, spinning the black Lincoln around, facing the opposite direction.

Both Madon and Deaton were taken to Baptist Health Corbin hospital with non-life threatening injuries and were listed in stable condition.

Officer Aaron Peace of the Corbin Police Department was the investigating officer, and was assisted by Col. David Maiden.

Also at the scene were members of the Corbin Fire Department, Kentucky State Police, Post 9 in Harlan, and two Knox County EMS units.
