Woman arrested for shoplifting
A London woman was arrested Sunday for shoplifting at the Walmart in Corbin, according to Laurel County Sheriff John Root.
Rachel Turner, 23, was detained by Walmart’s loss prevention team after she allegedly took a large amount of makeup from the cosmetic department, traveled to the self-checkout and scanned some of the items but failed to scan and pay for all of the items.
Turner was arrested by Deputy Larry Parrott and charged with theft by unlawful taking-shoplifting. She was jailed in the Laurel County Correctional Center.
Man arrested for shoplifting and drug charges
A Corbin man was arrested Sunday at the Walmart in Corbin, according to Laurel County Sheriff John Root.
Ryan Lannen, 25, was detained by Walmart’s loss prevention team after he was observed shoplifting while Deputy Larry Parrott was arresting another suspect for shoplifting.
In addition to shoplifting, Lannen was found to have Suboxone on his person following a search by deputy jailers after his arrest. Parrott learned through investigation that Lannen stuffed more Suboxone into the rear seat of Parrott’s patrol vehicle.
According to Root, Lannen was allegedly observed shoplifting at the Walmart on two other occasions, but had fled both times before being detained.
Lannen was charged with theft by unlawful taking-shoplifting, first-degree promoting contraband, and prescription controlled substances not in proper container-first offense. He was jailed in the Laurel County Correctional Center.
