LAUREL COUNTY — Two people were airlifted to the hospital after a two-car crash along U.S. 25 in Laurel County Thursday, according to Kentucky State Police Post 11 London Trooper John Pratt.

The crash happened about 11:30 a.m. as Betty Epperson, 32, of Flat Lick, drove a red 2011 Chevrolet Cruze south on U.S. 25 near Jerry’s Furniture. Epperson began to pass two other southbound vehicles and struck head-on a gray 2010 Pontiac G6 driven by Ladonna Eaton, 20, of McKee.

Epperson was taken by ambulance to St. Joseph London hospital for treatment of the injuries she suffered in the crash.

Both lanes of traffic were blocked as rescuers worked to extract Eaton and her passenger, Linda Caudill, 57, of Hudson, Fla., from their vehicle. Two Air Methods helicopters were called to airlift the women to the University of Kentucky Medical Center in Lexington.

Pratt said no drug or alcohol usage was suspected.

Pratt continues the investigation. He was assisted at the scene by the Laurel County EMS and the Lily Fire Department.
