While the Whitley County Sheriff’s Department arrested 49 alleged drug traffickers during roundups since December, deputies were unable to cross all those wanted off their list.
According to Sheriff Colan Harrell, the department has warrants issued for seven people.
An eighth person wanted was arrested Tuesday afternoon.
Harrell said deputies continue to seek the following suspects, who all face charges of first-degree trafficking in a controlled substance:
— Kristy L. Baker, 35;
— James D. Bell, 43;
— Kathy Fuentez, 55;
— Perfecto or Jeronimo Fuentez, 55;
— Rodney Fuson, 45;
— Tessia E. Hopkins, 37; and
— Matthew D. Johnson, 38.
The eighth person the department sought was 23-year-old Felisha M. Peace.
According to Harrell, Deputy Shawn Jackson received information while off-duty concerning Peace.
Harrell explained that Jackson pursued the tip, which led him to a residence on Ward Cemetery Road.
She was arrested at the residence and was jailed in the Whitley County Detention Center.
Harrell has said after previous roundups that these suspects are arrested once deputies have video and/or audio evidence of a “drug buy.”
He explained the department uses “confidential informants,” who make the buys until they cannot purchase anymore.
“Then we shut them down,” Harrell said.
Harrell hopes the seven remaining suspects will turn themselves in, and are asked to do so by contacting the department at 606- 549-6006, or to simply go by the office in the Whitley County Courthouse in Williamsburg. He added for those calling the department, they should ask for Harrell or Detective Sgt. Tim Baker.
Harrell reminded citizens it is a crime to knowingly help someone who is wanted buy law enforcement.
The sheriff’s department asks anyone with information about these suspects to contact the sheriff’s department during regular office hours, Monday through Friday, at 606-549-6006, or to call Whitley County E911 at 606-549-6017 and ask to speak to a deputy.
No citizen should attempt to apprehend or detain any of these persons.
