A Laurel County couple was arrested on charges of endangering the welfare of a minor after two children were found unattended in the parking lot of the London Post Office, according to London Police Chief Stewart Walker.
Around 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday, the London-Laurel County 911 Dispatch Center received a call from a post office employee reporting that two small children were “wondering around” the parking lot.
Officer Bryon Lawson responded to the post office where he found a 2-year-old boy and a 3-year-old girl.
About 30 minutes after the post office employee contacted law officials, the children’s mother contacted police to report the children missing from Reams Lane in London.
Officers determined that the children had been missing about one and a half hours before the mother called 911, according to the police report.
Amber Lorman, 26 and Shawn Smith, 21, both of London, were arrested and charged with two counts of endangering the welfare of a minor.
The children were unharmed and were placed with a family member by Child Protection Services until the investigation is complete, according to the report.
