CORBIN — Times-Tribune Staff Report

A domestic violence complaint led to the arrest of a London man on Tuesday afternoon.

Eric Spencer, 20, was arrested after deputies responded to a residence on Morris Road, according to the Laurel County Sheriff’s report. Laurel County Sheriff’s Deputy Robbie Grimes responded to the call around 2:30 p.m. Before his arrival, the female involved in the domestic violence complaint fled the scene, leaving Spencer behind, along with two children, ages 2 and 5.

Grimes learned that Spencer had an outstanding Laurel District bench warrant for failure to appear on fourth-degree assault domestic violence, disorderly conduct, fleeing and evading police on foot and public intoxication.

As the investigation continued, Grimes discovered that the children were living in “deplorable conditions” including no electric and no water, according to the report.

Social services was called to the residence and the children were removed. Spencer was arrested and transported to the Laurel County Detention Facility.

The investigation regarding the children is ongoing, according to the sheriff’s report.
