CORBIN — Times-Tribune Staff Report

A pair of Williamsburg men landed themselves in the Whitley County Detention Center after two Luxaire heat pumps disappeared from the Corner Stone Church last month.

The church is located in the Siler Community of Whitley County off Highway 92 East.

Whitley County Sheriff Colan Harrell said Anthony Anderson, 23, and Andy R. Rhodes, 26, were jailed in the Whitley County Detention Center.

Both face charges of theft by unlawful taking more than $500.

Harrell said Anderson and Rhodes allegedly took the two heat pumps, valued at $2,959 each, on Nov. 7.

One suspect admitted they received $58 for the items and used the cash to buy one and a half unknown pills, according to Harrell.

The Sheriff’s Department received assistance from Kentucky State Police Trooper David Lassiter, Williamsburg Police Chief Wayne Bird and Det. Bobby Freeman. Whitley County Sheriff’s Deputy Jeff Anderson and Deputy Todd Shelley continue the investigation.

Another drug suspect rounded up

Laurel County Sheriff John Root said a female suspect was jailed as part of a recent drug roundup done in the county.

Patricia Dawson, 57, of London was arrested and jailed Tuesday in the Laurel County Correctional Center. She faces charges of second-degree trafficking a controlled substance, first offense.

Laurel County Sheriff’s detectives Brad Mitchell and Jason Back handled the investigations which led to the drug roundup arrests. Deputy Steve Hoskins arrested Dawson on South Main Street in London.

Root said investigations are ongoing and more arrests are expected.
