London man arrested for assaulting teen

CORBIN — Times-Tribune Staff Report

A teenager was airlifted to a Lexington hospital with life-threatening injuries Wednesday after he was beaten by a London man, according to Laurel County Sheriff John Root.

Shawn Couch, 20, was arrested about 1:40 a.m. and charged with first-degree assault.

Detective Josh Scott made the arrest along Philpot Road after the assault, which occurred in a parking lot at the road’s intersection with KY 363.

The boy was airlifted to the University of Kentucky Medical Center in Lexington.

Couch was jailed in the Laurel County Correctional Center.

Assisting on the investigation at the scene were deputies Daniel Grigsby, Tyler Morris, Mikey Ashurst and Shawn Boroviak. Also assisting were Ambulance Inc. of Laurel County and Laurel County Fire Department.
