2 arrested on meth charges

Two people were arrested on meth charges Tuesday afternoon, according to Laurel County Sheriff John Root.

 Laurel County Sheriff’s deputies, while assisting Kentucky Probation and Parole Officers, arrested two individuals about 3:35 p.m. after an investigation was conducted at a home on Little Arthur Ridge Road. There were several items such as coffee filters, aluminum foil, and tubing, that had suspected methamphetamine residue on them discovered at the residence.

Jessica Meyer, 20, of  East Bernstadt was arrested and charged with first-degree possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine) and possession of drug paraphernalia. She also had an outstanding bench warrant for failure to appear in court, according to the sheriff’s report.

Marcum McWhorter, 62, also of East Bernstadt, was arrested and charged with first-degree possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine), and possession of drug paraphernalia. McWhorter was also charged with theft of a motor vehicle plate after it was determined he had a license plate on his red Chevrolet pickup that belonged on a different vehicle that he stated he got from an unknown person.

Both subjects were jailed in the Laurel County Correctional Center.

Laurel County Sheriff’s Deputy Tyler Morris along with Detective Jason Back, and Deputy James Sizemore assisted with the arrest.

Wallis Creek woman arrested on 5 bench warrants

A Wallis Creek woman was arrested on five bench warrants on Tuesday, according to the Laurel County Sheriff’s Office.

Laurel County Sheriff’s Deputy James Sizemore arrested Ashley Graham, 25, of Wallis Creek on five bench warrants about 11 a.m. on Lipscomb Road. Graham was charged with failure to appear on a Knox County Bench warrant for theft, receiving stolen property, and possession of burglary tools; a failure to appear in Bell county Court for theft; a failure to appear in Bell County Court for public intoxication; a failure to appear in Bell County Court for receiving stolen property and a failure to appear in Bell County Court for no operator’s license, and no insurance. She was jailed in the Laurel County Correctional Center.
