For the first time ever, the Laurel County Library is hosting a new musical event that will showcase regional and local talent.
“Tuesday Night Jam” at the Laurel County Public Library will be a free night of music, coffee, fellowship and reading, according to event organizer Magen McCrarey. The jam will be held on Tuesday, from 6 to 7:30 p.m.
During this time, the library will “transform itself into a relaxed coffeehouse atmosphere as local talent Trevor Pennington will open the evening up with acoustic melodies and singing. He will be followed by acoustic country musician Michael Coldiron of Richmond.
“Not only can patrons enjoy the musical entertainment, they can also grab a fresh cup of coffee brewed by Starbucks Coffee, and find a cozy seat to read a good book,” McCrarey said, adding that if the event went well, it could become a monthly occurrence. Organizers hope the event will draw a “younger” crowd into the library.
“We are trying to get a different demographic into the library; a younger crowd so we can expose them to the resources that we have available here,” McCrarey said, adding that the library would have a definite “coffee house feel” to it on Tuesday evening.
“There are some people that just do not realize what all we have to offer here at the library and maybe wouldn’t normally come out, so this is a chance for them to come see what we have in a relaxed and comfortable coffee house environment,” McCrarey said, adding a personal invite to the public to “come to the Laurel County Public Library for an intimate evening out, and bring a friend or two.”
Registration for the event is appreciated for planning purposes. Registration can be made online at www.laurellibrary.org or for more information call (606) 864-5759. The library is located off the Ky. 192 bypass in London.
