The Times-Tribune

CORBIN — A collision between a 2013 gold Dodge 4-door van and a 2000 blue Chevy Silverado extended cab pickup tied up traffic at the corner of 5th Street and Kentucky Avenue in Corbin and injured three persons Thursday. The crash happened at exactly 5 p.m.

According to Officer Ken Proffitt of the Corbin Police Department, the driver of the van, Henry Hampton, 46, of Corbin, was going east on 5th Street; while the driver of the truck, Chester Mills, 74, of London, was going south on Kentucky Avenue when they both approached the red light at the intersection of 5th and Kentucky.

According to Hampton and three witnesses, the Chevy truck ran the red light at the intersection, hitting the Dodge van.

Hampton and two passengers in the van, Susan Hampton, of Corbin, and a juvenile were taken by ambulances to Baptist Health Corbin hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Assisting Corbin Police at the scene were two units from Corbin Fire and Rescue and one ambulance each from Whitley Co. Ambulance and Knox County EMS. Officer Proffitt continues to investigate.
