Man sought on federal warrant arrested

CORBIN — By Carl Keith Greene / Staff Writer

A man sought on a federal arrest warrant was nabbed Monday by Laurel sheriff deputies, London police officers and drug enforcement officers on KY 363 south of London.

Randy Travis Cunnagin, 26, who lived on Jaw Road at East Bernstadt, was charged in an indictment returned on June 24, 2010.

Also arrested, but not on a federal warrant, was Jannan Bowling, also 26, of Arlington Greens Apartments in London, who was charged with first-degree hindering apprehension.

They were taken to the Laurel Detention Center.

Cunnagin was charged in the federal indictment with conspiring to make methamphetamine and possessing a stolen firearm.

The indictment states that about Dec. 29, 2009 through Feb. 19, 2010, he worked with others in making meth.

And, also on Dec. 29, 2009, he had a stolen Mossberg, model 500A, 12-gauge shotgun in his possession.

Arraignment of Cunnagin is set in U.S. District Court in London at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday.

If found guilty, the penalty for Cunnagin’s first offense making meth, is up to 20 years in prison, a $1 million fine and three years supervised release. If there is a prior felony drug conviction, it goes up to a maximum of 30 years, $2 million and six years supervised release.

The firearm count calls for up to 10 years, a $250,000 fine and up to three years supervised release.

An indictment is a formal charge by a grand jury and is not a conviction or an admission of guilt.
