3 arrested for drugs
Three people were arrested Monday on drug-related charges, according to Laurel County Sheriff John Root.
Kenneth Wooton, 44, Jinna Moore, 25, and Melody Gilbert, 35, all of London, were arrested by Detective Jason Back following an investigation of a residence that had caught fire. Laurel County Fire Department personnel noticed several items that indicated suspected drug activity in plain view and contacted the Sheriff’s Department.
Senior Sgt. Greg Poynter, deputies Daniel Grigsby and Larry Parrott, and detectives Back and James Sizemore located approximately 7.8 grams of crystal methamphetamine, two sets of digital scales, numerous plastic baggies, numerous new and used needles, and tow glass pipes.
Wooton, Moore and Gilbert were all charged with first-degree trafficking in a controlled substance–methamphetamine, first offense and possession of drug paraphernalia. They were jailed in the Laurel County Correctional Center.
Detectives Back and Sizemore are continuing the investigation.
Man arrested on bench warrant
A London man was arrested Tuesday on a bench warrant, according to Laurel County Sheriff John Root.
Timothy Anders, 54, was arrested by Detective James Sizemore and Bailiff Kenton Scharf and charged with a Pulaski County bench warrant for failure to comply regarding a theft by unlawful taking charge.
Anders was jailed in the Laurel County Correctional Center.
Woman arrested for shoplifting
A Manchester woman was arrested Tuesday for shoplifting at a Walmart in southern Laurel County, according to Laurel County Sheriff John Root.
Emily Hinkle, 30, was reportedly observed pushing a shopping cart with more than $400 worth of merchandise out of the store without paying for it.
Senior Sgt. Greg Poynter arrested Hinkle and charged her with theft by unlawful taking–shoplifting. Hinkle was jailed in the Laurel Count Correctional Center.
Man arrested on warrant
A Gray man was arrested Monday on a warrant of arrest, according to Laurel County Sheriff John Root.
Kim David, 24, was charged on a Laurel County indictment arrest warrant for first-degree criminal abuse–child 12 or under.
David was arrested by Detective James Sizemore and jailed in the Laurel County Correctional Center.
Man arrested for traffic violations
A Corbin man was arrested Sunday for multiple traffic violations, according to Laurel County Sheriff John Root.
Jonah Gambrel, 26, was driving a tan Toyota Camry when he was pulled over by Deputy Larry Parrott and charged with driving on a DUI suspended license–second offense as well as numerous outer traffic violations.
Gambrel was jailed in the Laurel County Correctional Center.
Man charged on parole violation
An East Bernstadt man was arrested Tuesday and charged with violation of parole, according to Laurel County Sheriff John Root.
Jason Simpson, 31, was arrested by Detective Jason Back and was charged with a parole violation warrant regarding a conviction in Laurel County Circuit Court for first-degree trafficking in a controlled substance–first offense as well as his alleged failure to report the arrest within 72 hours to his parole officer and absconding parole supervision. Simpson was additionally charged with a Knox County bench warrant for failure to appear in court regarding two charges of fourth-degree assault and theft by unlawful taking.
Simpson was jailed in the Laurel County Correctional Center.
