The number of stores licensed to sell package beer in Corbin now stands at 13.
That was announced Monday by Assistant Police Chief Bruce Rains. Rains is also the city administrator for the state Alcoholic Beverage Commission.
Joining the ranks of package beer locations in Corbin is Speedy Mart, located at the corner of the Cumberland Gap Parkway (U.S. 25E) and the Corbin Bypass (KY 3041).
The store, which is located in Knox County, was recently annexed by the City of Corbin. That action was taken by the Corbin City Commission during a special meeting June 15. The request to be annexed was first approved by the Corbin Planning and Zoning Commission back in May.
The other Corbin locations with retail package beer licenses include both Kroger supermarkets on Cumberland Falls Highway (U.S. 25W) and Cumberland Gap Parkway (U.S. 25E); both Circle K convenience stores at the junction of Cumberland Falls Highway and 5th Street Road, and Gordon Avenue; both Walgreen’s Pharmacies at the corner of South Main and 18th Street at Peach Corner, and in the Trademart Shopping Center; Mega Mart on Master Street; Sack & Pack convenience store on 18th Street; and Rite-Aid Pharmacy, Speedway, Mohican Discount Tobacco, and the Shell convenience store, all located on Cumberland Falls Highway.
