Man charged for rape of child

Williamsburg resident arrested for sexual assault of 12-year-old

CORBIN — By Becky Killian / Managing Editor

A Williamsburg man is charged in the rape of a 12-year-old child, according to Kentucky State Police—London Public Affairs Officer Trooper First Class Don Trosper.

Steven A. Douglas Jr., 56, was arrested after the child’s family reported the sexual assault before noon Thursday.

Douglas’ arrest came after an investigation by Trooper Raymond D. Foley.

During that investigation, Foley determined that Douglas was visiting a relative in Browns Creek in Whitley County, near where the child lives, Trosper said.

Douglas is charged with first-degree rape and two counts of first-degree sexual abuse. He was booked into the Whitley County Detention Center Friday, jail records indicate.

After his arrest, police searched the home at Browns Creek as well as Douglas’ home at Taylor Apartments. Police said they found more information during the searches but declined to elaborate when asked what was found.

Foley continues his investigation. He was assisted by Kentucky State Police Detective David Lassiter and the Williamsburg Police Department.
