Man dies in single-vehicle crash

CORBIN — By John L. Ross / Staff Writer

One man was killed in a single-vehicle crash Sunday afternoon.

According to Whitley County Sheriff Colan Harrell, Jacob Paul, 21, was driving a Ford F-250 pickup truck on Beck’s Creek Road west of Williamsburg after 4:30 p.m.

For an unknown reason, Paul drove off the road, slammed into a tree and was ejected from the truck.

Deputy William “Bo” Harris was dispatched to the crash site just before 5 p.m., Harrell said.

The sheriff explained the truck burst into flames after crashing into the tree — no one else was in the vehicle when he crashed.

Harris continues the investigation into the crash. Assisting at the scene were Deputy Joe Prewitt, Williamsburg Police Officer Brandon White, crew members with Whitley County EMS, firefighters with Goldbug and Woodbine Volunteer Fire and Rescue Departments, the Williamsburg Fire Department and Andy Croley with the Whitley County Coroner’s Office.
