A man is in the hospital after his ex-wife shot him during a domestic dispute Wednesday, according to Laurel County Sheriff John Root.

Rebecca Watkins, 31, of London, was arrested about 3:15 a.m. after deputies were dispatched to an accidental shooting complaint.

An investigation by Detective Josh Scott revealed that an apparent domestic argument led to the victim being shot by Watkins. According to Deputy Gilbert Acciardo, the argument was apparently over another woman.

The victim was shot in the shoulder and transported by Ambulance, Inc. of Laurel County to St. Joseph London. Acciardo said the victim is expected to make a full recovery. A black powder revolver was recovered at the scene of the shooting.

Watkins was charged with first-degree assault–domestic violence and jailed in the Laurel County Correctional Center.

Assisting at the scene were deputies Mikey Ashurst, Shawn Boroviak, Tyler Morris, and Daniel Grigsby, as well as Campground Fire Department.
