Williamsburg Police believe the “Bad Hair Bandit” has hit again.
Thursday night after 6 p.m. at the Williamsburg Walmart, a man came into the L&N Credit Union located inside the store and robbed it at gunpoint, reported Chief Wayne Bird.
In a press release, he said the lone gunman entered the Walmart and approached the bank teller with a semi-automatic handgun and demanded money.
The suspect was wearing a blue checkered flannel shirt, baggy jeans, a black toboggan, dark sunglasses, white work gloves, and appeared to be wearing a dark brown wig. He is described as a white male, 5’6 to 5’8, 180 to 190 lbs. and 25-35 years of age.
The suspect left the Walmart store with an undisclosed amount of cash and got into the passenger side of a waiting car.
The car is described as a late model black 4-door sedan with the drivers side headlight blown.
The vehicle was last seen heading West on KY 92.
Bird said he believes this robbery is related to a string of area bank robberies over the last few months.
Since June, the “Bad Hair Bandit” has hit two banks in Barbourville, two in Tennessee, one in Corbin and one in McCreary County.
The Williamsburg Police Department was assisted at the scene by the Kentucky State Police and FBI agents from the London office.
Those with information on this bank robbery are asked to contact the Williamsburg Police Department at 606-549-6087 or 606-549-6017, or the London FBI office at 606-878-8922.
