A convicted sex offender was arrested after London police determined he had moved without giving his new address to the Kentucky State Police Sex Offender Registry, according to London Police Chief Stewart Walker.
Eddie Wombles’ move was unearthed during a routine check of registered sex offenders in London by Sgt. Travis Hurley and Detective Joe Smith.
Smith obtained a warrant and, during a search for Wombles, he learned Wombles had been left his registered residence for longer than a month and was in Hazard. Smith notified the Hazard Police Department of Wombles’ possible location.
Wombles was located and arrested without incident at Hazard Appalachian Regional Hospital in Hazard by the Hazard Police Department.
Smith learned this is the sixth time Wombles has been charged with failure to comply with sex offender registration.
The investigation is ongoing.
