DUI, stolen weapon arrest on Ky. 552

A complaint and an investigation in Laurel County puts a Jackson County man in jail for DUI and stolen weapon charges Thursday night.

Don R. Collett, 31, of Ward Road, Annville was arrested and charged with operating a motor vehicle under the influence, and receiving stolen property (firearm). He was jailed in the Laurel County Detention Facility in London.

The incident happened around 11:15 p.m. According to Laurel County Sheriff John Root, Collett was arrested by Sheriff’s Deputy Kevin Berry on Ky. 552, seven miles south of London. That was after a complaint on Collett was received, and after an investigation of Collett was done by Berry afterwards.

During his arrest, a reported stolen 12-guage shotgun was discovered in Collett’s vehicle, a Plymouth Minivan.

Sgt. Brett Reeves assisted on the investigation.

Knox woman arrested for shoplifting

A check of a Laurel County business Thursday evening led to a Knox County woman jailed for shoplifting and two other offenses

Heather Boggs, 28, of Gray, was charged with theft by unlawful taking (shoplifting), public intoxication of a controlled substance, and prescription controlled substance not in a proper container. She was jailed in the Laurel County Detention Facility.

The incident occurred around 7:30 p.m. Laurel County Sheriff’s Deputy Robbie Grimes, along with Senior Sgt. Greg Poynter, investigated a complaint of a woman attempting to shoplift items from a business on South Stewart Road, 12 miles south of London.

When deputies arrived at the scene, they located Boggs inside the store, sitting on the floor folding clothes and observed to be under the influence.

During the investigation and arrest, deputies found in Boggs’ possession a pill bottle containing two different kinds of pills.

In addition, Boggs was wanted on two Knox County bench warrants — one for shoplifting, the other for public intoxication.
