Times-Tribune Staff Report
The gun believed to have been used by a couple accused in connection with a string of bank robberies in Southeast Kentucky and Tennessee has been recovered, according to Williamsburg Police Chief Wayne Bird.
Jason Fox, 30, and Tasha K. Fox, 27, both of Williamsburg, were arrested earlier this month. They now face federal charges that relate to the Dec. 1 armed robbery of the L&N Federal Credit Union located inside the Williamsburg Walmart.
The gun was found in a silt pond on Goldens Creek, located just inside Knox County.
The discovery was made after a three—day search based on information uncovered during the police investigation into the robberies.
The gun will be turned over to the London FBI to be used as evidence in the federal case, Bird said.
Bird said his agency was assisted by Kentucky State Emergency Management, Whitley County Emergency Management and the Williamsburg Fire Department.
