CORBIN — Corbin man charged with fourth OWI

A Corbin man was arrested Saturday and charged with his fourth offense for driving while under the influence, according to Laurel County Sheriff John Root.

Patrick Gray, 22, was arrested by Deputy Mikey Ashurst about 5 a.m. along East Cumberland Gap Parkway after deputies saw a black Ford Taurus traveling at a high rate of speed – 76 mph in a 45 mph zone. Deputies turned on the vehicle and were able to stop it after about one and a half miles.

Prior to the stop, Root said the driver swerved off onto the shoulder of the parkway and almost struck a guardrail.

The driver, Gray, was determined to be under the influence. He said he had drank a beer before he went to bed and that he was on his way to work.

Gray was charged with operating a motor vehicle under the influence, fourth offense, speeding, reckless driving, no operator’s license, no insurance, and other traffic violations. He was jailed in the Laurel County Correctional Center.

Door knocking leads to woman’s arrest

A London woman was arrested Saturday after a complaint was made about an intoxicated woman who was knocking on people’s doors, according to Laurel County Sheriff John Root.

Miranda Overbey, 32, was arrested about 10:30 p.m. by Deputy Larry Parrott. Root said she admitted she had drank beer and taken prescription medication.

Overbey was arrested and charged with public intoxication – controlled substances.

A witness told deputies and Constable Tim May that Overbey had knocked on her door and, when there was no immediate answer, had walked into the home univited.

Overbey was jailed in the Laurel County Correctional Center.
