Corbin OTB to be shuttered

CORBIN — Three Kentucky Off-Track Betting facilities will close after the Belmont Stakes runs in June.

Company officials told The Courier-Journal (http://cjky.it/Z6NoGh) it will shutter outlets in Corbin, Jamestown and Maysville, citing a decline in the overall handle at those locations. The company says the handle dropped from $25.7 ten years ago to $10 million last year.

Keeneland Association Chief Operating Officer Vince Gabbert said last week the partners in the Kentucky Off Track Betting LLC — Keeneland, Churchill Downs, Ellis Park and Turfway Park — were examining whether to continue operating those parlors.

Approximately 20 full and part time employees will be affected by the closings. KOTB General Manager Laura Prewitt says the company will offer employees outplacement assistance.
