A person Corbin Police called a major drug dealer in the city was arrested Monday and charged on several counts.
Lawrence Collinsworth, 30, of Corbin was charged with first-degree trafficking in a controlled substance (methamphetamine), first-degree possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine), unlawful distribution of meth precursor, unlawful possession of meth precursor, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
He’s jailed in the Knox County Detention Center in Barbourville.
According to Maj. Rob Jones of the Corbin Police Department, officers purchased methamphetamine from Collinsworth Monday, with the help of a confidential informant.
The officers also performed what police called a “buy bust” on Collinsworth.
They found on him several grams of meth, and 8.4 grams of crushed pseudophedrine that Collinsworth reported to police he was using to trade for meth.
He was arrested at his residence on Jenny Lane.
Maj. Jones, Lt. Glenn Taylor and Patrolmen Steve Meadors and Arron Peace were the assisting officers.
Capt. Coy Wilson is continuing the investigation.
