Bell County teens killed in crash

Times-Tribune Staff Report

Slick roads caused a wreck that claimed the lives of four Bell County teens headed to a Christmas parade Saturday.

According to a press release from the Kentucky State Police Post 10, Jonathan Miracle, 18, of Miracle, Ky., lost control of the 2007 Toyota Yaris he was driving southbound on US 25E in Pineville at around 12:50 p.m. Saturday.

Miracle’s vehicle crossed into the northbound lane of 25E and was struck by a coal truck driven by Dwight Robinson Jr. of Tyner.

Miracle had three passengers in his vehicle: twins Jessica Ingram and Wesley Ingram, both 16, of Pineville, and Daniel Campbell, 15, of Blackmont. All four were killed in the crash.

According to the press release, everyone involved in the crash was wearing a seat belt, and police don’t believe that alcohol or drugs played a role in the crash.

Jessica Ingram, Wesley Ingram and Daniel Campbell were all members of the Bell County High School Air Force JROTC and were on their way to march in a Christmas parade in Harlan, according to the press release. The driver of the coal truck was not seriously injured.

WYMT news is reporting that Miracle was a student at Southeastern Kentucky Community and Technical College and was “helping out” the Bell County JROTC program.

In January of last year, four other Bell County students died in a crash on KY 92.

The investigation into Saturday’s accident is continuing by Officer Greg Reams of Commercial Vehicle Enforcement.
