Reappointments and appointments were the focus at the regularly scheduled meeting of the London City Council Monday.
The council unanimously approved the reappointment of Jim Robinette to the London-Corbin Airport Board, with a term to expire Dec. 31, 2012.
“He’s been an asset to the board,” said council member Nancy Vaughn.
The council also approved the reappointment of current council member Bill Dezarn to the London Utility Commission, with a term to expire Dec. 31, 2010.
“I’ll tell him right now to his face he’s done good in that position,” London Mayor Troy Rudder said. “It’s not fun to be in that position.”
Also, the council appointed Dezarn and fellow council member Jason Handy to the City-County Industrial Development Authority, with terms to expire Dec. 31, 2010.
In other business, the council:
• Approved a request from Wayne Riley to use the London Community Center again this upcoming year for the Martin Luther King Jr. program. Rudder was complimentary of the event and encouraged other council members to attend.
• Announced that a swearing in ceremony will be held for the re-elected and newly elected council members on Dec. 30 at 5:30 p.m. at London City Hall.
