Times-Tribune Staff Report
At least two people with Tri-County connections were arrested in a “sex fest” bust at the Adult World on I-75 in Campbell County, Tenn.
The police raid ended with the arrests of 15 people, reported WVLT-TV, after a “meet and greet sex fest” was found at the adult bookstore. Authorities told the TV station that sexual activities were taking place at the store, and about two dozen city ordinances were allegedly violated. The adult store is visible to travelers on I-75 by the enormous metal cross constructed nearby.
Among those arrested was 36-year-old Christopher David Hale of Williamsburg, who was charged with indecent exposure, according to Campbell County Sheriff’s Records. WVLT-TV reported that Hale was an employee of the store.
Also arrested for indecent exposure was Bob Shelly, 54. Shelly’s current address lists Knoxville, but his hometown is Williamsburg, according to a spokesperson at the Campbell County Sheriff’s Department.
The charges are misdemeanors.
According to the television report, Caryville Police revoked Adult World’s adult-oriented business license. Caryville Police Chief Bill Widener told the station that police had acted on complaints about the store, and had used undercover officers in their investigation.
