Allegedly high mom tries to pick up her kids

Among four arrested for drugs near Advance Auto

By Becky Manley / Staff Writer

A Corbin area woman tried to pick up her two children from their father while apparently high on drugs, according to the Corbin Police Department.

The mother, Erica Fox, was among four people arrested on drug-related charges near Advance Auto Parts located near U.S. 25 East in Corbin, police said.

The four arrests led to the arrest of another man police were told fled before they arrived as well as to the investigation of a possible methamphetamine lab at a Williamsburg residence.

Police were called by the father of the children who shares custody with Fox, police said. The father, who did not release the children to Fox, told police that Fox and her companions appeared to be under the influence of drugs, police said.

After the call, Corbin police pulled over the truck in which Fox rode. Police said they observed needle marks on the passengers’ arms and a search of the truck found a generator and ingredients needed to manufacture methamphetamine as well as methamphetamine and prescription drugs.

Fox was arrested as were her companions, Amanda Decker, Andrew Barton and Scottie Paul, who was the driver.

All four face charges of manufacturing methamphetamine, possession of methamphetamine, first-degree possession of a controlled substance, third-degree possession of a controlled substance and possession of methamphetamine precursors.

The three passengers also are charged with public intoxication while the driver, Paul, is charged with driving under the influence.

Corbin police were told about a fifth passenger in the truck who fled before they arrived. The man, Jesse Kidd, was arrested near the Laurel and Knox county line and had about four outstanding felony warrants, Corbin police said.

Late Monday, Corbin police were working with Williamsburg police to investigate the report of the methamphetamine lab at a home in that city.
