Murder suspect waives extradition

Frazier was arrested in Columbus in September

By Brad Hicks / Staff Writer

The third man arrested for his alleged involvement in the murder of a Corbin man, whose body was found in Laurel County last month, has waived extradition and was brought back to the area Wednesday night.

Jason Frazier was arrested Sept. 19 in Columbus, Ohio after officials from the Kentucky State Police London Post received an anonymous tip on his whereabouts. He was wanted in connection to the murder of Devin Overbey, who was beaten to death Sept. 14.

Frazier was being held in the Franklin County Jail in Columbus. KSP Public Affairs Officer Trooper Don Trosper said Frazier signed a form stating he would voluntarily be returned to Kentucky.

“In Kentucky, somebody just signs a form saying they’ll come back willingly,” he said.

Wednesday, KSP Troopers Fred Pennington and Jason Vanhook made the approximately eight-hour, 500-mile round trip to Columbus to pick up Frazier.

Frazier has an arraignment hearing this morning in Laurel County District Court. He is being charged with murder and tampering with physical evidence. Frazier is currently being held in the Laurel County Detention Center.

Overbey’s body was discovered alongside Happy Hollow Road in Lily last month. Previously, police had arrested Terry Riley and Dwayne Riley. Terry Riley is charged with tampering with physical evidence. Dwayne Riley is charged with murder and tampering with evidence.
