Ky. trooper injured in London accident

A Kentucky State Police trooper responding to car accident on the Hal Rogers Parkway in London was involved in a wreck of his own Monday night that seriously injured one passenger.

Trooper First Class Parrish Baker was westbound on the Hal Rogers Parkway at approximately 7:25 p.m. Tuesday when he crossed the Kentucky 30 intersection and struck a 2002 Kia, driven by 26-year-old Curtis Angel of McKee.

According to a release from KSP Post 11, Baker’s patrol car struck the Kia’s passenger side, where Ashley Angel, the 24-year-old wife of Mr. Angel, was seated.

All three people involved were transported to Saint Joseph Hospital of London. Ms. Angel was later transferred to the University of Kentucky Medical Center with serious injuries.

According to police, Baker was driving a marked KSP vehicle with emergency lights and sirens activated.

Baker is a 19-year veteran of the Kentucky State Police. He was treated and released from St. Joseph Hospital with a broken hand, according to a KSP release.

As of press time Tuesday, the Kentucky State Police Regional Reconstruction Team was at the accident scene.
