Times-Tribune Staff Report
A London man was arrested Thursday by members of the Laurel County Sheriff’s Office for allegedly burglarizing a Laurel County man’s home while he was on vacation.
At around 2 a.m. on June 28, Deputies Richard Sapcut and Dwayne Hess responded to the report of a burglary at a residence on Laurel Springs Drive. The homeowner, who had just returned home from vacation, told police that several items were missing from his residence, including a Bushmaster AR15 rifle, an Xbox and a Nintendo Wii.
Through the investigation, Sapcut and Hess received information that led to the arrest of 21-year-old Brandon Thorp, of Boone Trail in London. Sapcut said that the investigation indicated the allegedly stolen property had been sold to buy drugs.
Thorp was charged with first-degree burglary, theft of a firearm, and theft of property over $300.
The property has not been recovered, but the investigation is continuing and more charges and arrests could follow.
