Times-Tribune Staff Report
Kenneth Ray Shadoan, 30, formerly of Whitley County, has been charged in a complaint filed in U.S. District Court in Lexington with possessing child pornography.
Shadoan, who lives in Carlisle in Nicholas County, was arrested May 13 in Bourbon County by Paris city police officers and charged with 25 counts of having the material.
A complaint entered by FBI agent Mary Trotman was filed in federal court with U.S. Magistrate James B. Todd on May 27.
In mid-May, the investigation began by Paris police when the mother of a 17-year-old Paris High student reported receiving what was called “inappropriate communication” from Shadoan.
Shadoan was arrested May 13.
Two days before the arrest police reportedly found several compact discs, one of which contained 25 videos depicting minors involved in pornography.
Shadoan was suspended from the position as a mathematics instructor he had held for the past three years.
As a non-tenured instructor, Paris school superintendent Janice Cox-Blackburn said since his three-year contract was to expire at the end of the school year, it will not be renewed.
In August 2005, Shadoan was indicted on a sodomy charge in Whitley County. A May 2006 jury acquitted him of the charge.
