LOUISVILLE (AP) — Retail clothing chain Dawahare’s has filed for bankruptcy and will close nine of its 31 stores.
The Louisville-based chain also will reduce some of its corporate staff.
The Courier-Journal of Louisville reported on its Web site Friday that the company, which also operates under the moniker The Cat Bird Seat, will close stores in Owensboro, Bowling Green, Paducah, Glasgow, Maysville, Mt. Sterling, Campbellsville, Newport and Bluefield, W.Va.
Company president Harding Dawahare said intensified competition from national chains and problems in the economy led to the decision.
