The North Laurel Lady Jaguars ran their win streak to a season-best 15 games after routing Whitley County on the road, 10-0.
Carrie Cobb and Abby Sears combined to pitch a shutout in five innings of play, as Cobb picked up the win to improve to 7-1 on the season.
“We weren’t on our ‘A’ game, but it was a win,” North Laurel coach Shane Weaver said. “We didn’t have any practices after prom, so we weren’t on top of our game, but we managed to do what we needed to get the win.”
North Laurel (25-6) managed to collect 10 hits in the win, as Logan Jones and Courtney Brock led the way with two hits apiece.
Haley Hensley, Rachel Akins, Megan Taylor, Gloriann Cordero and Kelsey Smith each had a hit apiece.
“I thought both Carrie and Abby threw well for us,” Weaver said. “Carrie had seven strikeouts and Abby had seven.
“I’m happy to be able to go on the road and get a win,” he added. We had 10 hits and left nine on base, but we were off-balanced a little bit. We’re just trying to get back into the swing of things. We did enough to score 10 runs, so I’m not going to complain.”
