Two drug dealers charged in W’burg

Kentucky State Police arrested two men from Georgia and South Carolina after they allegedly attempted to sell drugs to an undercover officer Wednesday morning in Williamsburg.
Joseph P. Walton, 30, of North Augusta, S.C. and Cameron T. Goetting, 33, of Lawrenceville, Ga., were both arrested and charged with first-degree trafficking in a controlled substance.
According to the arrest citation written by KSP Detective David Lassiter, Walton had “made several phone calls arranging the sale of three ounces of methamphetmine” to an undercover officer. Walton then allegedly arrived in Whitley County with Goetting and approximately three ounces of meth.
Det. Lassiter’s citation states that after Walton was read his Miranda rights, he admitted to police that he arranged the sale of meth in Williamsburg.
The arrest took place on KY 92E inside the Williamsburg city limits.
In addition to trafficking in a controlled substance, Goetting was also charged with first-degree trafficking in a controlled substance (cocaine) and second-degree trafficking in a controlled substance (hallucinogen).
According to Det. Lassiter’s citation, Goetting had crack cocaine hidden in his vehicle, as well as “multiple ounces of suspected methamphethmine hidden in a box under a vehicle he drove into Whitley County” and “XTC hidden inside a box” under the vehicle.
Both men were arraigned in district court on Thursday where District Judge Jason Price entered not guilty pleas on their behalf. They will both have preliminary hearings on Monday.
Goetting and Walton are being held in the Whitley County Detention Center. Both men had their bond set at $25,000 cash.
