An event designed to educate and promote the appreciation of traditional arts and crafts is coming to London this week.
The Red Bud Folklife Festival is today through Saturday at the Bennett Center in London. Attendees will be treated to arts and crafts made by regional artists, storytelling, music, dance, living history displays, and other demonstrations and events.
The event, now in its second year, was first held in 2006, but was not held in 2007. Organizers have worked diligently since that time to ensure this year’s festival will be as enjoyable as possible.
“We’ve been working on it for over a year,” said Twyla Money, one of the event’s organizers and demonstrators. “It seems like everything’s come together really good. I think we have a good lineup of things. Hopefully this will be a yearly attraction.”
The festival is scheduled to take place outdoors, but Money said demonstrations and exhibitions would be moved indoors if inclement weather presents itself.
The event is scheduled from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Thursday and Friday and from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday. Admission is free.
