Four arrested after Corbin stabbing

Police unsure which of the four is responsible for the stabbing

By Samantha Swindler / Managing Editor

Four men were arrested in Corbin late Saturday night after a man was stabbed, but police haven’t determined which — if any — of the four were responsible for the stabbing.

According to officers, Sammy Allen, 41, of Corbin, was stabbed in the chest after a night of drinking turned violent at a home at 175 Collins Lane in Corbin. Four men allegedly with Allen at the time of the crime were arrested for intoxication charges and an outstanding warrant, but none would state who — if any of them — actually stabbed Allen.

“Alcohol played a factor,” said Whitley County Sheriff’s Deputy Josh Meadors, who had yet to interview Allen Monday afternoon. “We’re pretty sure we arrested one of the guys that was supposed to have done the stabbing... They said they were hanging out drinking and apparently a fight started and it escalated to getting stabbed.”

Allen was taken to Baptist Regional Medical Center Saturday night and Meadors said he had already been released. BRMC did not have Allen listed as a current patient Monday evening.

“It was a large laceration under the left chest muscle, and it was pretty deep,” Meadors said of the wound.

Officers were called at about 11 p.m. Saturday, and Meadors said after the incident, those present allegedly scattered from the scene. He said he located Jerod Wright behind the house and Franklin Mills hiding in a nearby wooded area.

Police arrested Franklin Mills for alcohol intoxication, Andrew S. Barton for alcohol intoxication, Jerod Wade Wright for a failure to appear warrant, and Kenneth I. Fallon III for public intoxication (excluding alcohol).

Meadors was continuing the investigation and charges for the stabbing incident are pending.

Whitley County sheriff’s deputies Alan Onkst, Danny Bolton, Brett Reeves and Ronny Bowling and members of the Corbin Police Department assisted at the scene.
