Of the 25 indicted by the Laurel County grand jury Friday, two were charged with cattle rustling, and one was charged with assaulting a law enforcement officer.
Wesley Hatfield, 20, of Pineville, and Ronnie Ray Anderson, 29, of Barbourville, were charged with receiving stolen property worth $300 or more by receiving and possessing cattle stolen from Clarence Rice.
The men reportedly stole cattle from farms in the Rockholds area the night of Feb. 9 and took them to Patton’s Stock Sales in London for sale to pinhookers the next day.
London police received a tip about the stolen cattle and made an arrest at the stock yard.
Anderson was additionally charged with being a persistent felony offender, having already been found guilty of flagrant non-support, theft worth more than $300 and second-degree burglary.
The grand jury also indicted 21-year-old Jerry Daniels of Maple Grove School Road in London on four counts, including third-degree assault against an officer.
On or around Feb. 21, he allegedly assaulted Laurel County sheriff’s deputies Joey Vicini and Sgt. Greg Poynter. Daniel was also indicted for first-degree evading police, resisting arrest and third-degree assault against Brenda Daniels for “violently shaking her” and causing physical injury.
Also, Alfred Medley, 50, of Finley Trailer Park, was indicted on seven counts of “possession of matter portraying a sexual performance by a minor.”
Nine were indicted on drug trafficking charges:
• William Asher, 28, Homestead Lane, London, first degree trafficking in controlled substances and being a persistent felony offender.
• Lawrence Rodney Parker, 36, Pine Grove School Road, London, first degree trafficking in controlled substances.
• Joseph Wendell Helton, 35, Davenport Lane, Lily, first and second degree trafficking in controlled substances and being a persistent felony offender.
• April Johnson, 35, Days Road, and Tiffany L. Ball (aka Ooten), 31, Reams Lane, London, second degree trafficking in controlled substances.
* America Hoskins, 61, McFadden Lane, London, two counts of second degree trafficking in controlled substances.
• Billy Earl Smith, 28, McFadden Lane, London, one count of second degree trafficking in controlled substances and being a persistent felony offender.
• Scott Allen Roberts, 41, Hodge Lane, London, second degree trafficking in controlled substances.
• William David Mosley, 28, Blake Drive, London, first degree trafficking in a controlled substance, public intoxication, possession of marijuana and being a persistent felony offender.
Four were indicted for making methamphetamine:
• Patrick Wayne Sizemore, 49, Fariston Road, London, was charged with making methamphetamine and possessing marijuana.
• Scottie Lee Elkins, 34, Victory Mt. Zion Road, London, was charged with making methamphetamine, possessing drug paraphernalia, unlawful possession of methamphetamine, possessing anhydrous ammonia with the intent of making methamphetamine and being a persistent felony offender.
• Crystal Lynn Parker, 28, Bethel Hill Road, East Bernstadt, making methamphetamine and unlawful possession of methamphetamine precursors.
• James Robert Barnes, 29, Bethel Hill Road, East Bernstadt, making methamphetamine, unlawful possession of methamphetamine precursors, first degree evading the police, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, fourth degree assault and third degree criminal mischief.
Three were indicted on charges of evading the police:
• Darryl Lee White, 45, KY 1223, Corbin, was charged with first degree evading police, first degree criminal mischief, driving under the influence, resisting arrest, failure to maintain automobile insurance, driving on a revoked or suspended license, disregarding a traffic control device and criminal mischief in the third degree.
• Ronald Whitaker, 50, East Pittsburg Church Road, London, first degree evading the police, first degree wanton endangerment, first degree criminal mischief, driving under the influence of intoxicants, leaving the scene of an accident, resisting arrest and third degree criminal mischief.
• Jeremy Douglas Gatewood, 34, W. Tennessee Ave., Corbin, first degree evading the police, operating a motor vehicle under the influence of intoxicants, driving on a revoked or suspended license and being a persistent felony offender.
Also indicted were:
• Shane Michael Lawson, 26, Woodland Trail, Somerset, first degree criminal mischief.
• Larry Dean Beckner, Jr., 35, Swafford Drive, London, first and second degree criminal mischief.
• David Ray Brown, 59, Reams Lane, London, possession of a handgun by a convicted felon.
• Ralph Edward Hamrick, 48, Echo Valley Road, Lily, operating a motor vehicle under the influence of intoxicants, driving on a suspended or revoked license and disregarding a stop sign.
• Vicie Ann Estep (aka Hoskins), 36, Reams Lane, London, four counts of fraudulent use of a credit card and one count of being a persistent felony offender.
