A London man is facing multiple charges after allegedly striking a police cruiser and attempting to flee the scene last weekend.
According to a report from the Harlan Post of the Kentucky State Police, Knox County Deputy Jason Williams was traveling east on Kentucky 1629 on March 8. Damon Longsworth, 42, of London, was leaving the parking lot of Angels and Wings restaurant and was traveling north. The report said Longsworth ran a stop sign and collided with Williams’ cruiser, knocking it off the road. KSP Trooper Jason Bunch responded to the crash at around 11 p.m. that evening.
Longsworth then attempted to flee the scene on foot, but was apprehended by Bunch and charged with driving under the influence, driving on a suspended operator’s license, not wearing a seat belt, disregarding a stop sign and possession of a prescription controlled substance not in its original container.
Longsworth refused blood tests at the scene and was lodged in Knox County Jail. Williams was treated by Knox County EMS at the scene and released.
