Shooting leaves two hospitalized

Corbin man shoots half-brother, then turns weapon on himself

A Corbin man is in a Lexington hospital after allegedly shooting his half-brother in the leg with a rifle and then turning the weapon on himself.

Police said Glenn Ray Taylor, 56, had an altercation with his half-brother, David Hollingsworth, 42, at about 11 a.m. Sunday at a residence on Terrell Road off American Greeting Card Road in Corbin. Taylor allegedly shot Hollingsworth in the leg, then shot himself in the head.

Both men were taken to Baptist Regional Medical Center and then taken to University of Kentucky Medical Center in Lexington.

No charges have been filed at this time, pending the outcome of the investigation, a press release stated.

Kentucky State Police Detective Mark Allen is continuing the investigation. He was assisted at the scene by the Laurel County Sheriff’s Department and members of the Laurel County Ambulance, Inc.

UK Medical Center officials said Sunday evening Taylor was in surgery and Hollingsworth was in stable condition.
