Teen killed in Ky. 192 wreck

By Brad Hicks / Staff Writer

A three-vehicle accident in eastern Laurel County claimed the life of an Annville teenager Friday afternoon.

The accident occurred at the intersection of Kentucky 192 East and the Hal Rogers Parkway. Officials said 18-year-old Aaron R. Snider was turning his 1996 Lincoln Continental left onto the parkway from Ky. 192. Snider stopped at the intersection stop sign and, as he was turning left, was struck by a 2005 Volvo tractor-trailer driven by Jamie Brown, 31, of Lincolnton, N.C., who was headed east on the parkway.

“That’s when the collision occurred between the tractor-trailer and the Lincoln,” said Kentucky State Police London Post Public Affairs Officer Don Trosper. “The tractor-trailer struck the Lincoln in the driver’s side... Apparently he (Snider) stopped and pulled out in front of them.”

A third driver, 18-year-old Natasha Henson of Manchester, was traveling west-bound on the parkway when her Pontiac G6 was struck by Snider’s skidding vehicle.

Snider was pronounced dead at the scene by the Laurel County Coroner’s Office. Neither Brown nor his passenger, Freddie Link Jr., 37, of Hickory N.C., were injured in the accident. Henson and her passenger, Timothy Johnson, 22, also of Manchester, were transported to Saint Joseph London for treatment of what Trosper referred to as minor injuries.

All individuals involved in the accident were wearing seat belts.

Police were called out to the scene at around 2:24 p.m. and the scene was cleared at approximately 5 p.m. During that time, access to the intersection where the wreck occurred was blocked so officials could clear the scene and perform crash reconstruction.

At around 5:45 p.m., police were preparing to reopen the roadways.

Kentucky State Police Division of Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Traffic Crash Reconstructionist Officer Greg Reams is investigating the crash and was assisted by London City Police Traffic Crash Reconstructionist Det. Sgt. Chris Edwards, Laurel County Sheriff’s Traffic Crash Reconstructionist Det. Richard Dalrymple, officers from the London City Police, Laurel County EMS, Laurel County Emergency Management, Kentucky Transportation Cabinet and the Laurel County Coroner’s Office.
