Crime victim shows appreciation for police dept.

The Times-Tribune

CORBIN — I would like to commend the Williamsburg Police Department and especially Officer Jason Strunk on a job well done. My home was broken into by an assailant who attacked my daughter and her newborn son. He also attacked me and stole my purse. As neighbors helped call 911, Officer Strunk and the other Williamsburg police officers arrived within minutes of the attack. Officer Strunk immediately worked the crime scene, taking pictures and retrieving evidence. He and the other officers quickly had medical help for us and they were very calming, yet precise in their attempt to get our statements of what exactly took place.

The assailant had run away as soon as he stole my purse. We were still very concerned for our welfare. The officers directed us to our best course of safety and assured us they would quickly find the intruder. Twenty-four hours later, Officer Strunk called to say that the assailant had been apprehended and was now lodged in the Whitley County Detention Center. We were able to return home.

I am so appreciative for a police department that truly protects and serves their community. Thank you Officer Strunk and the other Williamsburg officers for a quick, professional and courteous job well done!
