Corbin Lions thank donors to Christmas Basket program, more donations are needed

The Times-Tribune

CORBIN — The Corbin Lions Club continues to accept donations toward our annual Christmas Basket Program.

This is our 64th consecutive year of providing food baskets to local families during the Christmas season.  Beginning with five baskets in 1949, we have delivered hundreds of baskets each year.  Both Lions Club members and volunteers deliver these baskets on Christmas Eve morning.

Each basket consists of enough food for a wonderful Christmas meal with plenty of leftovers. There are canned vegetables, fresh fruit, flour, meal, margarine, milk, Pepsi, bread, canned ham, sliced turkey with gravy, and candy.

We did not meet our goal last year, and we have found there is a greater need for baskets this year.  Yet, we find ourselves having to aim for only 216 baskets based on current donations of $3,950. To purchase these baskets, we have set a monetary goal of $15,000. This goal can only be met with the generosity of community members and businesses.  All donations are used for our Christmas basket program.

The club wishes to thank the following individuals and businesses for their monetary donations as well as those who wish to remain anonymous:
