Backpack Program gives thanks to Cima, others

CORBIN — There are a lot of people who deserve a mountain of thanks for helping to make the Applebee’s Pancake Breakfast, a benefit for the Corbin Community Backpack Program, a glowing success.

We want to especially thank Applebee’s for hosting, all the volunteers who did the work and all who bought tickets or made donations.

However, there is one person, John Cima, who out-ranked all others with his support, John, walking most of the way, sold over 200 tickets to help with this event. His heart of gold, dedication and determination goes above and beyond what is expected. He deserves our recognition.

John is a champion for the Corbin Community Backpack Program, as well as other school and community projects. His efforts show just how one person can make a big difference in the lives of others. He is truly one of Corbin’s treasures.

Doris Moore,

CCBP Ministry Board Chair

  • Our representatives should co-sponor the PAST Act

As a horse lover and Kentuckian, I support H.R. 1518/S. 1406, the PAST Act, which will reform the federal Horse Protection Act to end the abusive practice of soring walking horses for the sake of an exaggerated and grotesque gait.
