Knox County’s first Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Parade to be held Jan. 20

CORBIN — The Knox County Democrat Woman’s Club would like to invite the community to a Prayer Breakfast to be held at the St. Paul’s Baptist Church at 10 a.m. Jan. 20, as well as all of the events planned for this celebration.

All of the parade participants are requested to gather at the Union Plaza Shopping Center at 11:45 a.m. The parade will start at noon and will proceed down Knox Street culminating in a gathering in front of the Knox County Courthouse where a celebratory program honoring Dr. King will begin at 12:15 p.m.

During this time, there will be talks given by guest speakers from around the area, music will be provided by the KCHS Choir, and the winner of the fourth- through sixth-grade poster contest will be recognized.

All area churches, community organizations, schools and the general public are invited and encouraged to attend and participate in all of the day’s events.

The Knox County Democrat Woman’s Club would like to give a very special thanks to the Barbourville City Council and the Knox County Fiscal Court for all their help.
