Runners put on ‘class act’ Halloween race

On Saturday, Oct. 31, the Falls Road Runners had themselves a two-stepper, four-mile haul down and back yonder from the bypass towards Woodbine.

You gather, there were over 150 lost souls (figuratively speaking) going on a short jaunt out and back to the city of Corbin, which one day may host the largest marathon in the whole state of Kentucky.

In the cold, pouring rain, brave runners shook off the nasty weather and participated in a community event, of which I was real happy to be a part of. Even though two people beat me in my age group, I still walked away with a nice crafted medal. The awards were aplenty; the race, a smash hit for October. Those two people who beat me represented the very fabric of our communities. People who in the pouring cold rain came out to support a good cause — fitness — represented almost every age group within our community.

As the rain poured, race director Bill Hanson showed no fear, even on Halloween. The race was a real class act, with many awards. It was a great race put on by Bill and the Falls Road Runners. Kudos for Bill and the Falls Road Runners for a race well done.
