The Gaither Tour — an evening of entertainment and music hosted by Gospel Music legend Bill Gaither — will return to the Corbin Arena for a concert on Friday, June 13.
Officials with the Corbin Arena confirmed the concert and date Thursday.
Connie Hunt, the Arena’s Director said news of their return concert has been highly received.
“The Gaither Tour was here at the Corbin Arena in 2009, and they have been one of the most requested acts to bring back to Corbin. I’m happy to say they’re going to make a return visit. I’ve worked on getting the Gaither tour here for a year-and-a-half, and I’m excited about their return visit. This show will definitely bring visitors to Corbin from across the region and the country,” she said in a phone interview.
Hunt added the date when tickets will go on sale for the concert will be announced within the next couple of weeks, and would be on the Corbin Arena’s website.
The Corbin concert was listed Thursday night at the Gaither Concert Tour’s website at gaither.com.
A native of Alexandria, Indiana, Bill Gaither was an avid fan of gospel quartets throughout his childhood. He founded his first group, The Bill Gaither Trio in 1956, while he was still a college student. He married his wife Gloria in 1962, and together the couple would go on to write more than 700 popular gospel songs. Together, Bill and Gloria have won eight Grammy Awards and more than a dozen Grammy nominations.
They’ve also received more than two dozen Dove Awards from the Gospel Music Association, which earned them the title of the GMA’s “Songwriter of the Year” eight times.
Bill and Gloria continue to operate their business from his Indiana hometown.
According to the gather.com website, the couple continues to live “in the same home they raised their family. They live a lifestyle focused on investing their resources into eternal things.”
