Festival fun underway

CORBIN — Times-Tribune Staff Report

London’s Chicken Festival began Thursday, offering festival goers the chance to feast on chicken fried in a giant skillet before braving a carnival ride.

Those seeking some flash and dazzle can attend today’s “Light Up the Night in London,” a fireworks show set to last about 20 minutes during which more than 5,000 shells will be fired into the night sky.

Other entertainment includes the ZOOperstars, wild inflatables that will do daily shows through Saturday.

The public can also vote on a favorite chicken sculpture among the more than 100 displayed throughout Sanders Court.

Funds raised from voting benefit The United Way of Laurel County & London Downtown.

Voting ends at 3p.m. Sunday.
